Ingredient
Cranberry
Fresh or juiced, cranberry brings tart winter brightness and that unmistakable seasonal red — used in mulled drinks, mules and Christmas-table cocktails.
Flavour profile
Cranberry is winter’s most useful tart fruit. Unsweetened cranberry juice gives drinks a clean astringent edge that cuts through sugar and creaminess; sweetened cranberry juice is what you reach for in a mimosa or a punch where balance is already built in. Fresh whole berries make an extremely good garnish — pop one or two into the glass and they stay submerged but visible.
